Releavo vs BMAD Method

BMAD Method is a free, open-source set of AI agents that runs inside Claude Code or Cursor and writes the brief, PRD, architecture and stories into your repo. Releavo follows the same chain, but as a shared workspace: product owners, designers and clients work in it without a coding tool, and every doc is signed off by the role that owns it.

The short answer

Pick BMAD Method if you're a developer or a small technical team working in your own repo and coding tool, and you want a free, structured way to plan before you build.

Pick Releavo if the people who decide what gets built don't live in a terminal: the product owner, designers, QA and the client need to read, comment on and approve the docs, and you want the docs kept in step with Jira, Figma and the code.

Where BMAD Method is stronger

  • It's free and open source, and it runs where you already work: your repo and your coding tool.
  • No new tool for developers. Install it as skills or a Claude Code plugin and you're planning in minutes.
  • A large community, and modules beyond software delivery (test architecture, game development, creative work).
  • The process sizes itself to the work, from a quick fix to a full product.

Where Releavo is different

  • The people who approve aren't in the repo. In most teams the product owner, designer and client never open Claude Code. In Releavo they read the docs, comment and approve in a browser or the Mac and Windows apps.
  • Sign-off is a rule, not a habit. Each doc has an owner: the product owner approves the PRD, the tech lead the architecture. Releavo can't approve its own drafts, and approved versions are never overwritten.
  • It stays in step with the rest of your tools. Bring a Jira backlog in or send stories out, show Figma frames live in the UX spec, and let Releavo follow your repositories.
  • Roles get their own view. A developer sees their stories with full context, QA sees what's ready to test, the client sees a read-only summary.

Using them together

Releavo's MCP server works with Claude Code, so a developer can keep their own coding setup and ask Releavo for a story's full context (criteria, epic, architecture, UX spec) before building it, then move the story and link the pull request.
